Baby Shower

So it was a whirl wind week that ended with a lovely baby shower for dear friend. This baby was a long time coming and I really am over the moon for her and her husband. Plus she may be one the cutest pregnant ladies ever.

When I found out she was pregnant, I knew what I wanted to make her...a knitted baby blanket. Some thing soft and cuddly that she could wash easily and wrap the little one with. Not knowing whether it was a boy or girl, I went with a light green which would work either way. Later I found out they are having a baby girl which means in the future I will be making all kinds of cute girly things.

So the blanket...I started early since it was a lace pattern and had good momentum....in the beginning. Then work got crazy, life got busy and before I knew it, it was the last week of June. So for the past two weeks I have been knitting almost constantly and finished the crocheted edge about ten minutes before I headed to the shower today. Here is the finished product...

I'd say it was worth all the time! I am so excited with how it came out and I hope it is well loved...

So besides knitting feverishly this week, I also helped the mama-to-be make favors for her pizza themed baby shower. We made sugar cookie pizzas and it was so fun! Neither of us had used royal icing before...but I would say it was a success...

Yummy pizza cookies! A huge thank you to The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle for her amazing tutorial on making and working with Royal Icing.  Our cookies are not nearly as amazing as hers, but her helpful tips really helped us out.

So all in all, it was a crazy but productive week which had a lot of great photo opportunities for me to share.  As for me, I think I may take a break (for a day or two) on the knitting and baking front.

Happy days!

I cannot get over how beautiful-- and soft!-- that blanket is. :)

And, we pretty much rock at royal icing....
